Christina Tsakona

Christina Tsakona is a Supreme Civil and Criminal Court lawyer and a graduate of the Law Department of the Democritus University of Thrace. She holds an MSc in Law and Economics from the School of Economics, Business and International Studies, University of Piraeus and has graduated from the Professional Legislators Programme of the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies, School of Advanced Study, University of London.

Until April 2024, she served as Director of the Law-making Process of the Secretariat General for Legal and Parliamentary Affairs, responsible for the legislative drafting of bills and regulatory acts of Government members and Deputy Ministers.

Prior to assuming her duties as Director of the Law-making Process in November 2023, she was Head of Department B’ of the Directorate of Legislative Work, Secretariat General for Legal and Parliamentary Affairs, being responsible for bills under the jurisdiction of the Standing Committee on National Defence and Foreign Affairs and the Standing Committee on Public Administration, Public Order and Justice of the Parliament (2021-2023). She was also special adviser to the General Secretariat of the Government and then to the Secretariat General for Legal and Parliamentary Affairs (2019-2021).

Since October 2023, she has been a member of the Committee for Quality Evaluation of the Law Making Process and has also participated as a trainer and coordinator on behalf of the Secretariat General for Legal and Parliamentary Affairs in job shadowing activities in the framework of the European Commission’s project “Improving the coordination of the regulatory cycle quality and introducing effective law-making and long-term planning practices”, implemented by Expertise France, under the auspices of the Presidency of the Hellenic Republic.

In addition to her legal experience, she has worked as an advisor to the President of the New Democracy, responsible for the monitoring of the 3rd Economic Adjustment Programme (2015-2019) and as a legal assistant at the Prime Minister’s private office, responsible for parliamentary scrutiny (2012-2015). She speaks English, French and Spanish.
